June opportunities

This is just a quick update with a few time-sensitive items. Firstly, Gongshe Hu from USDA-ARS at Aberdeen, Idaho, will be retiring soon, and his position is available to be filled. It is part of a larger effort by the USDA-ARS recruiting Research Geneticists studying plants. The work will continue to focus on developing and releasing pre-breeding germplasm in support of public breeders. June 25th is the closing date for applications.

Secondly, if you would like to know more about growing both winter and spring oats in southern Ontario, Canada, Austin Bruch will be holding his field day on June 8th (rain date - June 9th). Please RSVP at the email in the linked page.

Lastly, the deadline for abstract submission for the OAT2026 International Oat Conference has been extended! You now have until June 15th to submit your abstracts. Remember, too, that June 30th is the deadline for Early Bird registration. Please see the OAT2026 website for more details about the conference!
